Statement Of Faith

Bible
We believe the Bible, both Old and New Testaments, was given to holy men by the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, given without error in its original writing. It is the ultimate authority for the Christian's life of faith and practice. It is to be believed in all that it teaches, obeyed in all it requires, and to be trusted in all that it promises. For any controversial or doctrinal issue, the King James Version will be used for clarification. (Psalm 119, 2Tim 3:16-17, 2 Peter 1:20-21)

God (Elohim)

We believe there is one and only one Sovereign, Almighty God the creator of all things. The Almighty God eternally existent in three distinct, co-eternal Persons, God the Father: God the Son: and God the Holy Spirit. He exists and functions, according to the Scriptures as Father, Son, Holy Spirit, yet one God. (Genesis 1:2, Deuteronomy 4:35, Matthew 3:16-17, John 10:30, Ephesians 4:4-6)

1. God the Father:
God the Father is eternal, all powerful, and all knowing. All that is in the heaven and in the earth is his. He is the Head above all. (John 3:16-17, 1 Corinthians 29:11, Isaiah 64:8)

2. Jesus Christ the Son:
We believe that Jesus Christ is God incarnate, being both fully God and fully man. He was born of the Virgin Mary, lived a sinless life, was crucified on the Cross of Calvary, resurrected on the third day, and has ascended to the right hand of God the Father. He is currently ever-present with the Father, acting as the believer's High Preist and intercessor. At a time only known to God the Father, Jesus Christ will return bodily. First to call His Church unto Himself and then finally His return to earth to establish His eternal kingdom. (Isaiah 7:14, Matthew 3:16-17, 28:6, John 1:1-3, 14:8-9, Mark 16:19, Hebrews 7:26, 8:1, 9:24)

3. Holy Spirit:
We believe, as fully God, the Holy Spirit acts to convince and convict all humankind of sin, leading all to repent and to be reconciled to God. He indwells each believer; illuminating the truth of the scriptures, guiding, equipping, and empowering all believers to live Christ-like lives, serving the Lord and being faithful witnesses. (Luke 24:49, John 14:26, Acts 2:4, Galatians 5:25)

Man

1. Condition: We believe that Adam and Eve were created in the Image of God, being in a state of innocence and perfect communion with their creator. Being tempted of Satan and yielding, they became sinners. Thus, each proceeding generation has inherited a fallen nature. (Genesis 1:26-27, Romans 5:12)

2. Salvation: We believe upon coming of the age of accountability, we are all held liable for our sin. Being guilty before God and in need of salvation. Each person is forgiven when they admit to God that they are a sinner, turning from their sin in true repentance, and believing that through Christ's death upon the Cross of Calvary that their dept is paid in full. It is a salvation of Grace, a gift and not of works, obtained only by faith in Jesus Christ. (Romans 5:17, 1 Corinthians 15:22, John 14:6, Titus 3:5)

3. Christian Living: We believe salvation is the beginning of life. God's grace is active in each believer, separating them unto God for His purpose, and working within their lives by His sanctifying power. God commands each believer to love Him first and others above themselves. Our faith is to be lived out in our care for others, being responsive to both the saved and the lost. Empowered by the Holy Spirit, armed with God's word, and disciplined in prayer, each believer is prepared for spiritual warfare. Each one striving to carry out the Great Commission of Jesus Christ. (1 Peter 3:15, Matthew 28:16-20, Deuteronomy 12:32, Revelation22:18-19)

4. Eternity: We believe that God desires everyone, everywhere to believe the Gospel, turn to Him in repentance, and receive Jesus Christ as their personal Savior. God will raise the dead bodily, to judge each one, while the unbeliever will be raised to condemnation and eternal conscious punishment. The believer will be raised to eternal joy, in the presence of the Lord Jeus Christ. (John 3:16-17, 1 John 2:17, 1 Timothy 6:12)

Sanctity Of Life

1. Abortion: We believe that human life begins at conception. Abortion constitutes the unjustified, unexcused taking of unborn human life. Abortion is murder. Jeremiah 1:5, Psalm 139:13, Luke 1:39-44)

2. Euthanasia: We believe that the direct taking of one's life is a moral evil, regardless of the intention. Life is a gift of God and must be respected from conception until natural death determined by God. (Exodus 20:13, Matthew 5:21, Acts 17:28)

3. Marriage and Sexuality: We believe the term "marriage" has only one meaning and that is marriage sanctioned by God, which joins one man and one woman in a single, exclusive union. We believe that any form of sexual immorality, such as adultery, fornication, homosexuality, bisexual conduct, bestiality, incest, pornography, or any attempt to change one's sex, or disagreement with one's biological birth sex, is sinful and offensive to God, this will not be condoned, tolerated, or accepted by Zion Bible Church. We believe that God offers redemption and restoration to all who confess and forsake their sin, seeking mercy and forgiveness through Jesus Christ. (Genesis 2:24, Romans 1:26-29, 1 Corinthians 6:9, Hebrews 13:4, 1 Thessalonians 4:3-8)

Love

We believe that we should demonstrate love for others, not only toward fellow believers, but also toward those who are not believers, those who oppose us. We are to deal with those who oppose us graciously, gently, patiently, and humbly. God forbids the stirring op of strife, the taking of revenge, or the threat of, or use of violence as a means of resolving personal conflict or obtaining personal justice. Although God commands us to abhor sinful actions, we are to love and pray for any person who engages in such sinful actions. (Leviticus 19"18, Matthew 5:44-48, John 13:34-35, Philippians 2:2-4, 2 Timthoy 2:24-26)

Practices

At Zion Bible Church we have embraced distinctive practices on practical living as a result of studying the Word of God. We practice baptism of penitent believers by immersion, in the name of the Father, Son, Holy Spirit. We practice the Lord's Supper (the last supper), open communion, and the Christian greeting. We practice proper appearance in worship, anointing and laying on of hands for healing in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. (Matthew 28:19, Galatians 3:27, John 13:1-20, 1 Timothy 5:10, Luke 22:19-20, 1 Corinthians 11:17-34, Acts 20:37, Romans 16:16)
